comedy: Can It go too far?

Are There Topics That Should be off-limits to Comedy? (An opinion piece by Sashali Finol)

Comedy itself is an art form. It takes careful thought and consideration to string together thoughts while also making them appeal and be comedic to any audience you bring it to. Granted, some may not laugh or some jokes may have to be saved for certain crowds but everything can be and probably already has been joked about.

It’s my belief that to ban anything from being joked about will simply make that more joked about since it’ll become “that topic which shall not be named” much like Voldemort is “he who shall not be named” in Harry Potter. Couple that with the fact it would be infringing on free speech to those who can make jokes about those topics appropriately, it just seems like more of a hassle then it’s really worth.
